Program Planning Considerations
UBC DAP is offered in a flexible format, allowing students to choose their own courses and set their own schedules to best fit their personal circumstances. The information below is not intended to be a comprehensive resource, but highlights a few key items for international students to consider as you plan your time in the program.
Enrolment Definitions for Immigration Purposes
Make sure to review UBC’s enrolment definitions for immigration purposes, as your enrolment status each term may have implications on your immigration status and your eligibility to work on and off campus, as well as post-graduation.
Course Format Selection – PGWP eligibility*
*For students who are not required to meet the field of study requirements
While the DAP program courses are offered in both an online and in-person format, students must ensure that LESS THAN 50% of the DAP program is completed online to remain eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). This change reflects the updated policy and is crucial for students planning to work in the country after completing their studies.
Please be aware of this requirement when planning your course schedule to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for a work permit.
Program Completion Letters
Following your final term of studies, a custom program completion letter will be automatically issued to international students who have met all program completion requirements at the end of the given term.
Students completing their final term will be informed prior to the start of final exams about the planned date for program completion letters to be sent out. However, to estimate the earliest date that your program completion letter will be available for an upcoming term, please use the following formula:
10
business days
for all grades to be posted and reviewed, completion of program requirements to be verified, letters to be prepared and issued
Please keep these timelines in mind when considering your start date for your post-program employment offers and in alignment with your study permit expiration date.
