Virtual career coaching available throughout the summer

Virtual career coaching appointments with a career strategist are now available for booking on Tuesdays throughout the summer.

Whether you’re looking to learn more about CPA fall recruit, refine your resume, or prepare for interviews, meet with a career strategist to help you take action and thrive in both your personal and professional life.

To make a 1:1 appointment, take the following steps:

  1. Log into COOL using your CWL
  2. Click on the “Coaching & Calendar” tab and click “Coaching Appointment”
  3. Click “Request a Coaching Appointment”
  4. On the search form, leave all filters blank to see all upcoming availability
  5. Select “Check Availability” 
  6. Once you select a date and time that works for you, fill in the required fields and click “Submit Request”

UBC CFA Exam Prep Info Session – Wednesday January 31, 11am PT

The CFA Standards of Professional Conduct outline ethical guidelines for CFA candidates. Whether you’re considering the CFA exam or want to deepen your knowledge key CFA topic areas, this session, led by award-winning instructor and highly experienced CFA charterholder Darren Degraaf, CFA, MAFM, CPA (not in public practice), PRM, will equip you with the insights and expertise to navigate the world of finance and hopefully pick up a few “tips n tricks” to help you perform even better on game day.

CPABC Annual Business Case Competition 2024

Registration Deadline: January 25, 2024 at 12:00 pm (noon) PST
First Round: January 26 – 28, 2024 (video submission)
Final Round: March 16, 2024 (in-person presentation)

Demonstrate and develop your business acumen by challenging yourself and your teammates to create strategic, innovative solutions to real issues facing real businesses! The CPABC Annual Business Case Competition is a business strategy case competition with two competition rounds. The Top 8 teams from the First Round will be invited to compete in the Final Round at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus. The Final Round includes an evening networking and celebration reception joined by CPA members across BC.

The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of $2,400. The second placed team will receive a cash prize of $1,200 and the third placed team will receive a cash prize of $600.

Please join CPABC’s Surrey/Langley/North Delta Chapter’s upcoming event: Career Guidance with CPA’s on November 16, 2023, 5:30-8:30PM at the Guildford Golf Club in Surrey. This event includes a moderated panel discussion with senior finance professionals from CPA careers in two main sectors – public practice and industry. You will be able to network with the panelists and learn about life after the designation and the transformation of the finance function. Light refreshments will be provided.
