Career Guidance with CPA’s

Please join CPABC’s Surrey/Langley/North Delta Chapter’s upcoming event: Career Guidance with CPA’s on November 16, 2023, 5:30-8:30PM at the Guildford Golf Club in Surrey. This event includes a moderated panel discussion with senior finance professionals from CPA careers in two main sectors – public practice and industry. You will be able to network with the panelists and learn about life after the designation and the transformation of the finance function. Light refreshments will be provided.

OnlineDesignated accounting professionals (active and in good standing) from an international accounting body that is listed as a ‘Member Organization’ of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) are eligible to apply for CPAWSB IFAC Member Assessment for advanced standing into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP). 
 
CPABC and CPAWSB guest speakers will present an overview of the academic and work experience exemptions (bridging) granted under this pathway, explain the steps on how to apply, documents required, fees and duration of the CPA program. Participants will also learn about the examination materials available to them, academic and employment resources, and much more. Learn how to start and what to expect as an IFAC member in this live webinar. Includes audience Q&A.

If yes, join this short 45-minute conversation and listen to a real-life CPA and learn about what accountants do and where they work. Nov 3012:00pm – 1:00pmPreparing for PER as a Post-Secondary StudentOnlineLearn about the practical experience requirements (PER) for the CPA designation as a post-secondary student. All aspects of the PER will be covered in detail, including the PER competencies, gaining paid experience while in post-secondary, tracking experience, and career exploration to prepare for employment after graduation. The presentation will conclude with an open question and answer period with CPABC.

This session is for current or graduating students of Post-Secondary Institution, including the CPA Western School of Business, who are NOT yet enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program.

Reminder – Interview prep for fall public practice recruit workshop (virtual) on Tuesday, September 12th, 4:45 pm

As a reminder, we’ll be holding our final workshop in our fall recruit prep workshop series on Tuesday, September 12th, which will focus on interview prep.

Preparing for an accounting firm interview is different than most students have experienced. Meet accounting companies’ expectations by making sure you know and prepare for every interview possibility. In this arena, introductions, answers, questions, conversations and follow up all matter. Build your interviewing success from “Hello” all the way through to your follow up after the interview is over!

Registration for this workshop will be on COOL until Monday, September 11th.
