April 4 5:30pm – 6:30pm CPABC How to Series ‘job seekers what to say in negotiations’ Online What are the actual words to say as a job seeker in your interview or performance review to shine a light on all your accomplishments and what you bring to the organization? How do you say this in a receptive manner to work in your favor in negotiations with potential or current employers to increase your package, benefit and/or salary? This event includes open questions and answers from audience, and all audience members will learn the tools and techniques to help them navigate through their own negotiations, and how to eloquently “say it in the right way”.
April 12 12:00pm – 12:45pm Conversation with a CPA Online Join this short 45-minute conversation and listen to a real-life CPA and learn about what accountants do and where they work. You will then have an opportunity to ask your own questions about a career in accounting.
April 13 5:30pm – 6:30pm CPABC Q&A Webinar Online Still have questions about the CPA PEP after attending one of the weekly info sessions? Join us and ask away! In this interactive event, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the admission requirements of the CPA program, how to apply, and any additional questions you may have about the program.
April 18 5:30pm – 7:00pm Online CPABC Accounting Night in Canada Online Learn how to transfer your international education and work experience (accounting/finance) to get the CPA designation. Presented by Sheila Cheung, BA, RISIA, Student Recruitment Officer, this free information session will explain the admission requirements and the structure of the CPA program, permit requirements when enrolled in the CPA program, and how to start your pathway in becoming a CPA. Many internationals enrolled in the CPA program may have long term goals to obtain permanent resident status in Canada. Special guest speaker, Sanam Kashfi, RCIC, will present on the immigration services available through Kashfi Immigration. This webinar includes live Q&A from the audience.

Join this short 30-minute session with CPABC staff answering rapid-fire pre-submitted and live questions about the Practical Experience Requirements (PER).
March 9 1:00pm – 2:00pm CPA Public Practice Recruit Information Session Online In one hour, learn about Public Practice Recruit for current and graduated post-secondary students. If you’re interested in pursuing employment opportunities with public practice firms in BC, attend this session to learn how students are recruited in the spring (March to June) and fall (July to October) in 2023, for full-time, summer, and co-op positions starting in 2024.
March 16 12:00pm – 1:00pm Post-Secondary CPABC Information Session Online Are you a post-secondary student interested in becoming a CPA after you graduate? This session will cover the CPA program in detail and include an open Q&A with CPABC’s Senior Student Recruitment Officer. This session will be tailored to post-secondary students interested in becoming a CPA, and is open to students from any university or college program.
March 21 5:00pm – 6:00pm CPA’s Journey – Life After Designation (Industry) Online CPA’s Journey features real-life CPAs and candidates of the CPA program who work in various sectors. In this webinar, our panelists who work in industry will talk about their CPA journey as well as life after obtaining the CPA designation.
March 22 2:00pm – 3:00pm CPA Public Practice Recruit Information Session Online In one hour, learn about Public Practice Recruit for current and graduated post-secondary students. CPABC post-secondary recruitment frameworks and guidelines provide information on how students, employers, post-secondary institutions (PSIs), and the BC accounting profession should all effectively and productively engage in the post-secondary recruitment process. It demonstrates the profession’s strong commitment to best practices, professionalism, as well as ethical intent and behavior.

February 1 5:30pm – 7:00pm Online CPABC Accounting Night in Canada Online Learn how to transfer your international education and work experience (accounting/finance) to get the CPA designation. This free information session will explain the admission requirements and the structure of the CPA program; and how to access free resources such as English language courses, mentorship and career counselling services from BC settlement agencies to help you attain your goals in becoming a CPA.
February 2 5:30pm – 6:30pm CPABC Q&A Webinar Online Join us for an online general Q & A session with CPABC Recruitment staff. In this interactive event, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the admission requirements of the CPA program, how to apply, and any additional questions you may have about the program. This event is suitable for persons who have already attended a CPABC Information Session.
February 8 5:30pm – 7:30pm Discover CPA In-person (Vancouver) Are you interested in becoming a CPA but don’t have a business-related background? This Discover CPA event will feature a panel of CPAs who did not study business prior to pursuing their CPA path. Hear why they became CPAs and how they did it. Receive an overview of the CPA profession and get a chance to network with panelists following the moderated panel discussion. Complimentary canapés and beverages will be served. Registration Deadline: Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
February 15 12:00pm – 1:00pm CPABC How to Series ‘Negotiate salary and package’ Online Learn how to consider salary and package when choosing your accounting employer. Our panelists will share how and when to negotiate salary throughout your accounting career path within their organizations; how salary is structured, the additional package, perks and benefits available at their organizations, and what an accounting career for you may look like at their organizations. Event includes live audience questions and answers to the panelists.

BC and Yukon post-secondary students, show off and refine your business acumen by challenging yourself and your teammates to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to real issues facing real businesses! The CPABC Case Competition is a business strategy case competition with two competition rounds. The Top 8 teams from the First Round will be invited to the Final Round including an evening reception to network with CPA members across BC.

Prizes: The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of $2000 and invited to a CPABC Mentor/Mentee Networking Event. The second placed team will receive a cash prize of $1000 and the third placed team will receive a cash prize of $500.

Teams: This competition is open to BC and Yukon post-secondary students only. There are no limits on the number of teams from each school. Teams of four must have at least two students who are in their 1st or 2nd year of studies, and teams of three must have at least one student who is in their 1st or 2nd year of studies. Students of all disciplines are invited to participate, no prior experience is required. Team registrations only. Individual registrations not accepted. See Rules and Regulations for detailed information.

January 31 12:00pm – 1:00pm CPABC Network Series ‘Meet and Mingle’ Online Join us and network with some of CPABC’s best Candidate and Member Ambassadors! Candidate Ambassadors are individuals who are currently enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program, while our Member Ambassadors are CPAs. This event includes rotating networking rooms so audience members may ask their questions and receive answers, guidance, tips and advice on a variety of topics and interests, such as employment, career paths, education, interviewing skills and more.
