The Cultural Significance of Garry Oak Meadows for First Peoples of British Columbia’s Southern Gulf Islands
For thousands of years, Garry Oak Meadows played a strong role in the lives of local Indigenous People. While this history is beyond the bounds of the Garry Project, it is a critical aspect of Garry Oak Meadow ecosystems, making their endangered status deeply tragic.
