Background

To gain insight into the challenge of this Garry Oak Meadows restoration project, it is useful to be aware of the criticality of these ecosystems to the ancient local Indigenous culture. The reasons for Garry Oak Meadow degradation are also important. Therefore, this background starts by introducing the historical role played by Garry Oak Meadows in local Indigenous culture.
