Industry Decline

The decline for the industry followed a large scale clinical trial as part of Women’s Health Initiative which investigated long-term use of Hormone Replacement Therapy drugs.

The study showed long-term use increased risk of strokes, heart attacks, blood clots, and breast cancer from taking estrogen Premarin based drugs (The Women’s Health Initiative, 2003).

Women were advised to switch to natural alternatives and adopt dietary and lifestyle approaches to deal with hormone imbalances.
