Anti-bark shock collars include a battery and electrodes that generate an electric shock and a rubber-coated sensor disk on the collar strap. The collar is designed to fit dogs in a way that the electrodes protruding from the collar make direct contact with the ventral surface of the neck (Polsky 1994).
Activation
When a dog barks, the larynx vibrates. The rubber-coated sensor disk on the collar strap is designed to sense the vibrations from the larynx and then activate the collar to shock the dog.
