Detailed EDUC 275 Course Outline

Course Description

This course explores the concept of global education and teaching from a global perspective, particularly in non‐Western contexts. We will consider the ways a global framework informs classroom practice, planning, assignments and assessment. We will make connections between classroom and communities, and amongst ‘the local’, ‘the global’ and that which is in between. Within these discussions, we will interrogate the very notion of the local, and instead assert cultural, environmental, philosophical, economic and political connectedness. Further, we will engage some of ethical questions associated with exploring global issues within an educational context. In particular, how do we interrogate the way in which place and context inform our own understandings and perceptions of the Other.
