Training

After an initial consultation, detailed fitness assessment, and clearance through the PAR-Q, you’ll be guided step-by-step through a workout designed specifically for your fitness level, goals, and the severity of the disease. Our personal trainers will keep you on track, never push too hard and ensure you work out safely—helping you get the results you want and need. We are certified in providing a low-intensity low-resistance program as well as a progressive aerobic program to our clients, and will always ensure safety and health as our number one priority. Our  personal training team offers a variety of training options, from personal one-on-one sessions and partner training to group training sessions and training can be done in 30 or 60 minute sessions depending on your flexibility and schedule.

Exercise is just one thing you can do to control your weight.  Any cardio exercise (walking, running, cycling, aerobics classes, skating, tennis, etc.)–anything that raises your heart rate. Lifting weights is a critical component of an effective weight loss program since muscle burns more calories than fat.

Obviously, blood sugar levels are critical no matter what type of diabetes you have. Exercise can effect your blood sugar, so pay attention to possible warning flags during your workout such as:

  • change in heartbeat
  • start sweating more
  • feel shaky, anxious or hungry
  • dizziness

Blood Sugar levels will be measured before the first training sessions to obtain baseline values as well as before/after each training session to help keep the client healthy and safe!
