This May, five of our colleagues from Enrolment Services in Vancouver celebrated 25 years as UBC employees. Congratulations from all your friends and colleagues!

VickiJungVicki Jung

Vicki began her career at UBC in the housing office as an Off Campus Housing Clerk before moving over to Enrolment Services a couple of years later. She has held various roles in ES since then. Currently Vicki heads up Transcript processing at UBC and assists countless students and alumni in receiving their official records.

You will often find Vicki motivating her colleagues to join her at the gym over the lunch hour, where she has been attending classes for years.  While some of her gym partners have wavered in their dedication, Vicki has remained constant and presses on rain or shine.

Outside of UBC, Vicki and her husband are raising their wonderful daughter Emily who keeps them very busy by being involved in many activities!  Vicki is a very dedicated and active Mom, and also an amazing team member of Enrolment Services.  We are extremely fortunate to have her as a part of our community, and sincerely would like to thank and congratulate her for all of her contributions to UBC.

Nancy LowNancy Low

Twenty-five years ago, Nancy Low joined Enrolment Services as a Telereg Hotline Clerk.  Since then she has had many roles, even lending her talents working at the Sauder School of Business.  Over the years, Nancy has contributed to the university in countless ways from implementing our current Student Information System, providing support and expertise to all users of the SIS, ensuring the system is operating correctly, and communicating with students, staff, faculty, and our IT partners.

Nancy is amazing – she knows details, systems and business processes like no other.  In fact, so many people rely on her for systems and Enrolment Services support that she always has a workspace full of chocolates and gifts at Christmas from individuals, Faculties and Departments expressing their gratitude for her ever-present help.

Outside of work, Nancy is fantastic baker often showcasing her talents at Goodie Days or simply surprising her colleagues with treats.  She also always impresses us with her shopping adventures and collection of shoes.

Nancy – you are a valued member of the Enrolment Services team – congratulations on 25 years at UBC!!

Susan Mah

Susan began working at UBC 25 years ago in the mail room for the Registrar’s office in Enrolment Services.

Although quiet, through the years Susan has been a member of a few different teams in Enrolment Services.   Susan worked in Classroom Services where she contributed to Informal Learning Space projects and the stewardship of Brock Hall.  She worked to ensure that the building was always comfortable and functional for everyone. She also took on special projects that involved creation of signage, pictures of all classrooms on campus, and some interesting techy stuff!

Currently Susan contributes her talents to the Admissions team where she works in the mail and document control room. She is literally the first person to initiate the sorting process for the thousands of transcripts arriving at the Undergraduate Admissions office! Wow!

Luckily for us Susan has a talent for baking and she is happy to share this talent with us on Goodie Days by sharing her tasty madeleine cookies with the team. Outside of work Susan enjoys shopping, always finding a good deal that she is willing to share with friends, and spending time with her nephew!

Through the years she has acquired a depth and breadth of knowledge that has made her the ‘go to person’. Susan’s smile and easy demeanor make her very approachable, and her hard work and dedication make her someone you can depend on.  Susan, we are all very happy for you. Congratulations on achieving this amazing milestone!

Maria Mannella Maria Mannella

Maria Mannella is a bright eyed UBC Alumni who started her epic journey in Records and Registration on the switchboard and front counter 25 years ago. Since then she has been in a variety of roles in Financial Services and Enrollment Services. She is currently the Tuition Payment Coordinator in Student Financial Services.

Maria is an exemplar of dedication and hard work. As many people across both campuses know, Maria has a wide range of knowledge about the University and its various systems. Her early work set the foundation for the student-focused unit we are today. Maria’s kindness, integrity, and calm manner have been appreciated by all who have worked with her. She is always prepared to assist a student or a colleague. That explains why her phone has not stopped ringing for the last quarter of the century.

Maria enjoys sun filled  holidays with her husband Naz and her two children, Daniella and Bruno.  Wherever she travels, Maria always leaves extra room in her luggage for shopping sprees and souvenirs. The office has gained a few pounds over the years from the thoughtful treats she’s brought back with her.

Maria, the honour is ours to have you in Student Financial Services. You are a very well-respected individual who has time and again exceeded expectations. Thank you for your commitment, dedication and service excellence.  We are so proud of you!  Congratulations on 25 years at UBC.

Brigitte PriebeBrigitte Priebe

Brigitte started at UBC in December of 1989 in the Faculty of Commerce, Real Estate. Since then has worked in the Law Department, the Registrar’s Office and then in 1998 she joined Classroom Services where she is the Exam Coordinator today. Brigitte demonstrates meticulous attention to detail – which is quite fitting considering the intricate work she does. She has received numerous compliments over the years such as “Brigitte’s wonderfully positive attitude and welcoming demeanor make her stand out”; “She is irreplaceable in her role” and; “Brigitte has provided—without a doubt—superior service.” In 2010, Brigitte won the President’s Staff Award for her exemplary service.

Outside of work Brigitte enjoys gardening and bargain hunting: It’s been reported that she has found some amazing deals! She loves the beach and is an avid fitness guru (she even works out at the gym at lunch time). Brigitte practices sustainability for the environment by carpooling, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons Kian and Armin and would like to one day go on an African safari.

Congratulations Brigitte! We are so lucky to work with you and hope to share many more years in your company.
