Student lunch at the Long HouseEach week, a different UBC faculty or unit hosts a lunch and presents on the opportunities, resources and services they offer to the UBC Aboriginal student community. On Tuesday, October 21, Enrolment Service Professionals joined the Ombudsperson in co-hosting the lunch at the First Nations Longhouse, Sty-wet-tan.

More than 100 students and ESPs gathered and shared a meal together – a great opportunity to build awareness and connections. Kate Ross provided opening remarks, and Drew Senay presented information about the services provided by ESPs, including reminders about upcoming deadlines for the Common Experience Payment (CEP) under the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement and the Indspire scholarships and bursaries program.

If you’re interested in connecting with the Aboriginal student community at UBC Vancouver, or have ideas for future lunch and learn sessions at the First Nations Longhouse, please contact Drew Senay or Kristen Harvey.
