Did you know about secondments?
Secondments are temporary assignments to jobs other than your own, either within ES or to other departments, that allow you to work a temporary assignment and then return to your own job at the end of the term. These are great opportunities for you to expand your skills and abilities while not having to risk your permanent role, and they are often an option for you although you may not realize it!
Due to the IRP and other special projects, many upcoming roles within ES and across campus are and will continue to be posted as term positions. If you are interested in these roles but are hesitant to apply because you don’t want to give up your ongoing role, consider asking about a secondment. Let your current manager know about your interest in the temporary role, and discuss with them whether they’d be willing to allow you to be seconded and therefore hold on to your original position for you.
