For the current PD funding year (April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023), claims may be submitted up until March 3 after which claim submissions will be closed until the new fiscal year begins.
Both M&P and CUPE staff have access to central funds that support your PD endeavours, which need not be related to your current role. In order to be funded via either of these programs, the PD must merely be related to supporting your overall career growth at UBC, and includes funding for things such as exams, certifications, books, online subscriptions, coaching with an ICF-certified coach, travel expenses, as well as course fees.
CUPE – Job Skills Training Program
The Job Skills Training Program (JSTP) provides professional development support for Administrative & Clerical Support Staff in the CUPE 2950 employment group.
- Log into Workday to view your personal PD Fund enrolment and available balance information, and track the status of current PD claims submitted for reimbursement.
- Individual funding limit is $1,400 per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31).
- PD expense claims and receipts must be submitted within 60 days of the original PD expense purchase date as shown on the receipt. After 60 days, PD expenses will no longer be eligible for JSTP funding support.

M&P – AAPS PD Fund
For the purposes of this funding program “professional development” is defined as those activities that enhance the knowledge, performance or career progression of an employee’s work at the University.
- Log into Workday to view your personal balance remaining as well as the balance remaining for the M&P PD Fund.
- Individual funding is $750 per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31), pending fund availability.
- PD expense claim forms and receipts must be submitted via Workday within 60 days of the original PD expense purchase date as shown on the receipt. After 60 days, PD expenses will no longer be eligible for M&P funding support.
