The Younger Years
Stephen has been a west-coaster from the start. He was born in Vancouver and lived in Seattle for some time. Stephen recalls spending most of his childhood singing. He sang in the Bach Choir and performed at the Orpheum Theatre. He was on his way to stardom until that dreadful moment – his voice changed. As Stephen put it, “it was all over after that”. But, it wasn’t. Stephen still had talent and used it to write and produce his own comedy and play.
Power and Politics
From hitting the stage to hitting the books, Stephen attended UBC where he later earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science. Stephen worked as a Residence Advisor for UBC Student Housing and Hospitality Services where he loved to enforce rules and counsel young freshmen. Stephen spent some time working for the Consulate General of Canada in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. But the tech trims weren’t enough and Stephen just couldn’t stop thinking of BC (he also needed to come home to finish his degree). Once Stephen officially graduated he worked a short stint with UBC Graduate Studies where he reports to have had free coffee every day and many other perks (noted!).
There’s No Place Like Home
Entering 2013, Stephen began an internship with the BC Legislative Assembly. Stephen has many stories he can (and can’t) share with you, one of which includes sipping a fine glass of scotch with the Premier. After spending 6 months in Victoria, Stephen came back to UBC once again. Now Stephen has joined the Undergraduate Admissions team as an Admissions Coordinator. There’s no free coffee here Stephen, but plenty of free laughs.

Travel
Last year Stephen took a trip to Europe with some friends. They spent four weeks traveling through Spain, Italy and Morocco. Stephen’s highlight of the trip was celebrating Christmas with “Caga Tio”. Don’t know who/what that is? Stephen will be happy to tell you 😉
Music
Stephen has a bit of an obsession with bands, particularly music festivals. If he’s got some time off it’s likely he is down at the Gorge for the annual Sasquatch festival. His favourite bands include Cold War Kids, Kings of Leon and Vampire Weekend.
Cooking
Stephen claims he is a good cook. Signature dish: homemade pizza. Should we call him out on it? I think so!
