It has to be Spring… it’s SPRING BREAK! Time to put away your Sorels, fish those Nikes out of the back of your closet and run the UBC campus nearest you. Both UBC campuses offer great running experiences because of our fantastic natural and forest surrounded locations. The trails at UBCO are a definite attraction in the Kelowna area. They were expanded and officially opened in 2009, now offering 5.25k of nature, history, relaxation and health.  The trails at UBCV  provide some of the best nature in the city, attracting community members from far and wide. With terrain varying from the dense woods of Pacific Spirit, to the sun and sand of Foreshore Trail, there is truly something for everyone. The best part about running the Foreshore Trail – kicking off those sweaty runners at the end of a long beach run and wading into the cool ocean water off Wreck Beach… Perfect…

With all of this at our front doors, we in ES have no excuses not to get out there and run, run, run …

So grab a running buddy (be safe, run in groups!), your favourite running shoes, some water and head out to the UBCV or UBCO campus trails and paths near you. Don’t forget to sign up for any 5k, 10k, half or full marathons you plan to do this summer as registration for most are coming up. Never run a race before? Make this the year by starting with a 5 or 10k in your city.

PS: I will be training for the SeaWheeze half-marathon come May and if you want to come along for some run fun after work, give me a shout!
