Friday Sept 2 was the Welcome Back Faculty and Staff BBQ and Information Fair at UBC’s Okanagan campus. Immediately following the DVC Town Hall meeting and hosted by our Human Resources department, this year’s theme was bow ties. Entrants were given a bow tie-shaped passport to be stamped at each table, which they could then enter in a draw for prizes.
The morning started off rainy with dark clouds looming overhead.
However, shortly after the event started the sun came out and dried up all the rain so we could enjoy the event. Hundreds of people came out to check out the tables; our Enrolment Services table was well attended and in lieu of brochures we gave out a lot of candy.
The food was excellent, as long as you like burgers and chips. There were many draw prizes given out at the end, combined with all the giveaways at the tables meant everyone could walk away with something. All in all it was a great way to start off a new school year.
