No, I would not invest in this venture. Although this pitch did a good job of identifying the reading problems in schools, and as a result students needing to repeat grades (at a great cost to the education system), it lacks many elements that were left unanswered. First the reason for purchasing this product was not compelling as another company could simply sell newer leveled texts for a very reasonable price. The advantages of reusing texts was not identified. Investment information was lacking, that is to say, investment and return figures. One of the most marking points as to why I would not choose this product is because I do not know his name. If I am to invest I need to put a face to name. Although I think it is a great idea, I cannot back this venture.
I would invest in this venture. WIth that said however, this would need to be an MVP type investment. I’ll through in right now, but you’ve got very little time to show me the results.
Granted we don’t see much of the team or the backing of the idea, but the idea itself is a really good one. The idea behind it is great as the facts presented. As an educator, those facts wouldn’t surprise me, but from the standpoint of an EVA those stats would shock me. In addition, education would be a great market for this type of product. However, I would want to hear more than just the elevator pitch.
