Hi Kuljinder – I was extremely intrigued by your choice of topic. I never really thought about how well The Magic School bus could be used as a science learning tool. I do incorporate Bill Nye frequently in my science classes but as I teach intermediate grades 7/8, I would hesitate to show the Magic School Bus as it might be deemed to young for them. However, I did think it would be a good way to get the students to show what they know about a subject by having them create their own version of the Magic School Bus, either in book form or a video presentation.
I agree that it is an engaging way to get students hooked on science concepts, but it still appears to be a mainly passive activity, particularly watching the videos. How would the teacher’s be able to gauge the student’s understanding of the concepts? Would there be activity packages created for each subject, or would the teacher’s be responsible for creating their own activities to accompany the videos and/or books? Are the videos and books meant to be a supplement to the science curriculum already in place?
The layout of your website was extremely easy to follow and easy to read.
Overall, I found this a very interesting concept to contemplate and may revisit some of the videos for the next school year.
