Conclusions

The SEM model is a great instructional model to help foster student leadership within the class. It provides structure, yet gives students in teams the freedom to explore their own role and appreciate sport. From start to finish of using this model in our badminton unit, I hope that it encourages students to gain confidence, step up to team roles and discover what leadership and being part of a team in sport is all about. I hope to see a change both individually with students and collectively as a Physical Education class. The greater unity we achieve as a class the more comfortable and greater confidence the less athletic and leadership orientated students will step up.
