Limitations

A first limitation to this observation is space. The gym is small and having multiple ongoing games at once will be tight. However because the risk of having a flying shuttlecock fly and injure someone is very low, it will be fine to run all games side by side. To overcome this limitation of too many students sitting out at one time, there are umpire roles on each teams. What this means is that when teams are playing, students are refereeing their games and then reporting back to the scorekeepers. Another limitation will be if a student misses a day of class. It means that their team will have to cover for them in both play and duties in order to keep the tournament progressing. The students will realize how important each team member is, and will be given an additional leadership opportunity to step up and cover for their missing teammate. A challenge that may be faced when implementing a SEM within the classroom is that for those students unfamiliar with badminton, they need to quickly learn the model as well as the game simultaneously.
