During my practicum while investigating whether the SEM model can be used as a good tool to develop leadership qualities within Physical education class, this may change my thinking as an educator based on the results. I think it is important to take into consideration all aspects of leadership, and leadership progress, and not just the end result. This is why the self- assessments are so important as developing leadership characteristics are not for the educator, but for each individual student. The development will provide students with greater confidence inside and out of class, as well as knowledge in badminton and values or sport education.

As an educator working full time in a school, I would use the SEM model in different units with PE class. The concept of fulfilling a role on a team and developing leadership qualities through the SEM can be performed using different sports/games/activities. This model can be used across all grades, even at the elementary level. It would be good to look into collaborating with elementary grade educators and expose elementary students to this model. This would provide students at a young age the opportunity to own a role as competent players who are able to execute game strategies in game play. They would have started to develop these leadership characteristic and increased self-confidence in elementary school and thus would be at a higher level when they do attend high school.
