Rob did an excellent job on defining the each art critic circles with inquiry questions. The core of this graphic organizer is to help students develop their skills of writing an art statement eventually. Therefore, Rob started this mini lessons with asking multiple questions and opened an big group discussions to help other members communicate their ideas and thoughts. I believe if Rob can relate this painting to the painter’s biography would be great, but Rob has already done a very good job since he doesn’t know arts at all.
Assignment 2 – Gentrification Pros and Cons
Priya did a fantastic job presenting my text and graphic organizer about gentrification. Her instructions were clear and she showed a great deal of content knowledge in something that is not her area of expertise. She was enthusiastic and well prepared. Moreover, she elicited vibrant discussion of the topic, asking the group to think of connections in their everyday lives. Awesome job!
Assignment 2: Ancient Chinese Philosophies (Meno/ Kelsey)
Meno did a wonderful job introducing 3 major philosophies that arose in Ancient China. He made sure to compare and contrast each of the philosophies and clearly outlined the main beliefs each group followed. Meno was detailed and specific in his instruction and allowed for all members of the group to follow along adamantly. He included a helpful review at the end to further reiterate the differences and similarities within each philosophy. I would have enjoyed having Meno as a teacher in high school.

Will did an excellent job teaching the group about the different levels of meaning in relation to “Las Meninas” by Diego Velazquez. He brought excellent background knowledge of the painting, and communicated the lesson clearly. His voice was clear and distinct, and he used humor as an effective tool to engage his audience.
Assignment #2 – Chloe Makepeace
Chloe thoughtfully approached and broke the introduction of this lesson into clear and concise steps. Considering the student viewpoint, she provided key insight in the planning process, leading to the creation of an exemplar for students to reference. The language of the story is formal. Therefore, in support of accessibility to the key themes, Chloe discussed the place and people where the story came from, asked questions to check for understanding, then had people read the segment so that they could connect the story with the exemplar graphic organizer. Once it was clear that people were ready to begin the exercise, the participants were asked to decide if they would like to work in groups or separately, select a segment, and finally to review their segment and apply their interpretations to the graphic organizer provided. Questions posed by participants included: how to decide the key elements, if there could be a wrong answer, if there were problems with making too many connections. Chloe responded by asking informative questions as a way to reassure participants that they were on the right track, and that they were using the graphic organizer correctly. Overall, the graphic organizer was viewed by participants as a useful method in approaching more complex content, and all of the participants found a way to better understand their story segments, and the instruction was well organized, friendly, helpful, concise and clear.
Static charge
Hannah presented my lesson and graphic organizer on “Types of static charges”. She began by showing an animation of a person walking across a soft carpet and reaching for the door knob, when suddenly…zap. Then she asked questions about why and what was happening here to promote students’ curiosity in learning the content. Followed by preloading the knowledge of charges, composition and structure of an atom using different visual aids. She explained the content in a clear manner and used the graphic organizer as a formative assessment at the end to check the understanding. In general, Hannah did a great job in conveying the concept of static charge.

My texts are the two youtube videos that are linked in the ppt. slides.
Feedback for my partner:
Lauren Lyons did a great job presenting the material. She mastered the content and executed the plan effectively.
Assignment 2 – Intro Spanish: Mapping Tacos using a Taqueria Menu -Nan/Jeff
Jeff did a great job teaching different types of tacos and main ingredients for a future student’s Taqueria (restaurant) field trip. We worked together on simplifying handouts to fit activities in 10 min. First, he used “My favourite food” handout to built on students’ experience, then he explained an example of a mind map, later he gave students the menu from the restaurant, and finally provided a template of the mind map for the students to complete. Jeff was very engaging in his presentation, he started with his own favourite dish (curry) and made everyone hungry!
He explained handouts clearly, circulated among students clarifying questions, and closed the class asking students to “apply” their knowledge by drawing their favourite tacos in “My favourite food” handout. All students filled in the answers in the mind map correctly and finished the activity on time. One of the constructive feedback I gave Jeff was to spent some time describing the titles of the columns in the mind map to clarify content and to structure time for questions about these columns. In summary, he did a great teaching job, even more considering that… he does not speak Spanish! Way to go!

Assignment 2: Content-Area Trade Biology
Sean did an excellent job teaching the amphibians conservation activity that I prepared for him. He was well-prepared. This activity incorporates expert groups, drawing, interpretation, and peer-evaluation.
Assignment #2: Content Area Small-Group Presentation
Jingyi did a great job teaching a short lesson on mutagens using my slides and graphic organizer. It was amazing to see how she presented the lesson and made it her own by incorporating fun cultural reference, like the teenage mutant ninja turtles and X-men, to explain the concept of mutations. Her explanations on the topic was very clear and thorough, having a strong science background. I really liked how Jingyi integrated the use of the graphic organizer during the lesson, showing how graphic organizers could be used as an effective tool for students’ learning, during and after lessons.
