The Power of Public Speaking – Toastmasters International
For the last four years I have been a member of the Toastmasters International Group (TMI) – Club 59 in Vancouver: http://www.tmclub59.com/ . I joined this organization because as a teacher and a teacher educator I wanted to be a role model to others and to convey my ideas clearly and succinctly. I have heard about TMI a lot, but I never realized how powerful such an organization can be. As an educator I have read a lot about the power of peer learning. This learning theory was first proposed by Lev Vygotsky and is referred to as a social-constructivist learning theory. TM is an example of how this theory can be implemented into practice and I always recommend my students to join this organization.
