The sun never sets on our ETEC 533 online course
If you were to ask me why I like to teach my online ETEC 533 course – “Exploring Technology in Mathematics and Science classroom” so much, I will give you at least three reasons:
a) The graduate students (we have 24 students in this class) who take this course are self-motivated, knowledgeable and very creative people who have a wealth of ideas and experience. Many of them have taken courses together and they know each other well. I would say that they know each other much better that they would know each other in the fact-to-face course. Thus, we have a lot of very interesting discussions and I am learning a lot from this course.
b) The graduate students who are enrolled in the MET – online program – want to study online and they know how to benefit from it: as you can see from the map “the sun never sets on this course” – every year we have students from all over the world enrolled in the course. Where else would I learn so much about math and science education about the world?
c) My research field is on the use of educational technology in math and science education. Where else will I get so much professional development and ideas? Unlike a short term conference, this course becomes a community that helps all of us reach our potential. This is very exciting!
