Second Public Practice Recruit (PPR) Workshop Scheduled for February 12!

Are you looking to make some valuable connections from those currently working in accounting roles? Interested in finding out more about different firms, public practice and industry? If yes, then this session is highly recommended!

Meaningful connections can be made through both organized and proactive opportunities. When firms make decisions about who to interview or hire, the people they already know have a distinct advantage. Come learn some strategies and connect with our panel of senior students that recently networked their way to success.

A zoom link will be provided to those registered 1 business day before the workshop.

First Public Practice Recruit (PPR) Workshop: Intro to Public Practice Recruit: Stand Out from the Crowd will take place at 4:45 PM on Jan 29th 2025.

Call for Student Delegates with the UBC Sauder EDI Committee – Apply by January 23

Hi everyone,

The EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Committee at the UBC Sauder School of Business is calling for applications to be a student delegate associated with UBC Sauder EDI Committee. If you are passionate about making a difference in EDI, we would like to hear from you.

The UBC Sauder EDI committee comes together monthly to discuss matters related to equity, diversity and inclusion. The UBC Sauder EDI Committee is advisory to the Deans Office and works on initiatives and recommendations across three domains:

  1. Capacity Building: Continue to develop an engaging EDI culture that builds trust, participation, and inclusion.
  2. Recruitment, Retention and Success: Continue to evaluate recruitment processes to eliminate barriers in the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff, as well as in student recruitment, admission, employment, and career advancement.
  3. Communication, Engagement and Accountability: Develop clear and timely processes through evaluation and transparent reporting to the broad UBC Sauder community on its progress in EDI.

The time commitment involves one 1.5 hour committee meeting each month, as well as other project-based work. Joining additional project-based teams is voluntary and the time commitment can vary.

To reduce barriers to participation, student delegates will be given a $500.00 Student Service Award for contributing to the EDI Committee’s work.

The term for serving on the committee is 1 year, which is potentially renewable.

Selection Criteria
We would like to recruit in a manner that complements the existing committee to broaden our range of perspectives. Priority will be given to those who:

  • Have lived experiences and/or knowledge relevant to EDI
  • Have demonstrated their passion and commitment to EDI and the principles and goals of the committee
  • We particularly have a need for diverse perspectives including those who are IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour), people with disabilities, and those from the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community

Application process and selection

  • Submit applications by January 23rd, 2025 (by 4.00 pm, PST) via the submission portal
