Welcome to the start of term!
As you may be aware, as of September 1, 2024, UBC has fully transitioned student systems from the Student Service Centre (SSC) to Workday Student (WDS).
Moving forward, all incoming and current UBC DAP students should be using WDS as well as myUBCDAP for program-related tasks. Specifically, all registration activity for DAP courses (registration in new courses, transfers and withdrawals) are to be done through myUBCDAP:
- Add new courses through Register Now – Diploma in Accounting Program Course Registration Form (ubc.ca)
- Make changes to existing registration through Manage my Registration (drop or transfer) – Diploma in Accounting Program – Manage My Registration (ubc.ca)
As well, you can view a summary schedule and timetable for the current and upcoming terms at Course Schedules – myUBCDAP.
For this reason, all DAP students will see a Full Registration Hold on your profiles, which specifies that registration for DAP students (add/drop/transfer) does not take place on Workday. You will see this hold for the entirety of your time in the program.
There will be areas of WDS that will be applicable and relevant to your student journey that we encourage you to visit and familiarize yourself with. As a starting point, please review your personal information details on your profile and update as needed. Please review Personal information | Workday Tutorials (ubc.ca) for further information on how to make these updates. You may notice that other functionality isn’t available yet – these features will be rolled out in a phased approach and will come online when you need to perform key tasks.
To get started with WDS, please login with your CWL: Home – Workday (myworkday.com).

We are now accepting applications for the following 2024 Winter Session awards:
- 1500 BDO Canada LLP Service Award, 1 award valued at $2750
A service award endowed by BDO Canada LLP to recognize a student in the Diploma in Accounting Program (DAP), made on the recommendation of the Sauder School of Business to a part-time or full-time student who is enrolled in the DAP Program and demonstrates high levels of community service and volunteerism within the university or community. Award candidates must also demonstrate high academic standing in the DAP Program. - 1661 Chartered Accountants Education Foundation Jim Miller DAP Scholarship, 2 awards valued at $1000 each
Awarded on the recommendation of the School to students with high academic standing and leadership ability who intend to become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
Both awards are open to DAP students enrolled in Summer Session courses and enrolled in upcoming Winter Term 1 at the time of application; must have completed a minimum of 9 DAP credit units, with a minimum 75% average by end of Summer Session.

Applications are due August 31st. All qualified students are encouraged to apply!

The CPA Education Foundation (CPAEF) has awards for accounting students who have financial need and who are attending a BC post-secondary institution in their first through fourth years. The next deadline is May 15, 2024. You could be eligible for an award of up to $3,000!

Applications are now being accepted for this year’s CPABC Bill Johnson DAP Student Achievement Award and are due April 30th, 2024. Please see below and Finances & Scholarships page for more information and application instructions.
A $2,100 award has been made available through an endowment established by the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) and the Sauder School of Business to honour Bill Johnson, FCPA, FCGA, for his more than 35 years of service in support of accounting education and the accounting profession. The award is offered to a student enrolled in the Diploma in Accounting Program (DAP) who has achieved high academic standing in intermediate financial accounting courses, and has demonstrated both academic excellence throughout the Diploma and leadership through community service – each accomplishment is given equal weighting in selection. The award is made on the recommendation of the Sauder School of Business in consultation with the Diploma in Accounting Program.
To be eligible for consideration of this award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in 2023 Winter Session courses
- Have completed a minimum of 9 credits by the end of this Winter Term 2, including BUSI 353 and BUSI 450, with a minimum overall average of 75% by the end of the 2023 Winter Session (April 2024)
To apply, please submit the following documents by April 30th:

- Your résumé
- Two reference letters on the business letterhead with contact information from professional contacts in support of your community and/or leadership experience
