  1. All “Christians” should be required to watch Jim White’s video “If Jesus Drove a Motorhome.” White has a handle on Christianity that is sorely lacking among the hordes of American devotees who confuse the basic tenets of their religion for nationalism and hate. The select caring of the religious right that is practice is a hypocrisy that White illustrates in a humourous, but pointed way. Do you think this little tune will ever make it into the hymnals? Or at least, one of those guitar strumming hip-for-the-youth services? Even I would drop a coin in the collection plate of such a church.

I love Jim White, but I’m stuck on M. Ward–so sad and melancholy a story teller.

  2. Here are a few more tempting morsels to add to your “sonic diet”

“Fair and Square” – John Prine. A must for John Prine fans. His first album, in a decade and he is in rare form!

“Everything’s Ok” – Al Green. Reverend Al has done it again with some serious R&B as only he can! This is better than his 2003 “I Can’t Stop.”

“Suite Unseen: Summoner of the Ghost” – Babatunde Lea. Afirican tinged jazz by a very underrated, excellent jazz drummer.

“Devils and Dust” – Bruce Springstein. A raw, powerful collection of songs from the soul. The DVD side of the CD is worth checking out.

“Someting to Be” – Rob Thomas. A great debut solo album. This guy can write some great altrnative pop songs.

“Mighty Rearranger” – Robert Plant. A stunning album that mixes African, Middle Eastern influences with rock.
One of the more creative albums I’ve heard in years. [Best if heard while in an altered state] Saw him do an incredible live concert in Oakland, CA
