I am a third year PhD student in the School and Applied Child Psychology program. Upon completing my degree, my career goals include becoming registered as a psychologist so I can provide psychological assessments and therapy to children, youth and families. I would also love to become an instructor one day. I completed my undergraduate degree at UBC in Psychology. I got into this field after exploring my initial interests in sciences as an undergraduate student, hoping to work in the medical field, yet the idea of psychology always interested me. Once I took my first psychology class in undergrad, I was hooked and switched programs! From there, I spent time volunteering in clinical and research settings that solidified my interest in the practice of psychology. The thing I enjoy most about the program is the students I have met and the friendships I have made along the way. In my free time, I enjoy trying new recipes, strength training, enjoying the outdoors, and connecting with my friends and family! A piece of advice I would offer about grad school is to continually challenge your thinking, learn from diverse perspectives and world views, and engage with communities in the process. Also, be patient and kind with yourself as graduate school is a tough journey.
