Erika Thauberger

My name is Erika Thauberger, and I am 6th-year PhD student in the School and Applied Child Psychology Program. I have lived all over Canada from coast to coast. I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, went to High School in Ottawa, undergraduate at UofT, before moving to Vancouver in 2015 for the Master’s in School Psychology Program. I worked for 2 years as a school psychologist before returning for my PhD. I recently finished my pre-doctoral internship at Holland Bloorview, and will be staying in Toronto while I finish my dissertation. My research is focused on the perspectives of Autistic Adolescents about the PEERS Social Skills Program and Social Masking. I am working part-time with the Toronto District School Board and am hoping to continue with them full-time when I graduate. In my free time, I love to read and bake. To my pre-grad self, I would say take your time. You are a better clinician when you are rested and fulfilled in your life, and that fulfillment cannot come from school alone, or else you will burn out. The linear path is not the only path. I have no fun talents, but I am very good at Trivia.
