We completed two multi-criteria evaluations (MCE) of landslide risk on Vancouver Island (summarized in the conceptual model below). The General MCE had inputs of landslide risk associated with slope, soil type, precipitation, vegetation, roads and rivers. The Deterministic MCE replicated the General MCE but replaced slope and soil type with a deterministic analysis of how they would impact landslide risk.
We ensured that all data was projected to BC Albers and extracted only data pertaining to Vancouver Island using a mask. MCE weightings were based on the analytic hierarchy approach based on literature reviews.
