Period 2 Exam Schedule

The Period 2 exam schedule is now posted on the Sauder website here.  The exam schedule is also posted on your Connect site under:  Home Page >myUBC MBA 2015> myMBA Program> Schedules & Registration> Exam Schedules & Policy > Current Students webpage

Please note, if your module’s final evaluation is not listed please consult with your instructor. Also, the due dates and times for some final evaluations are subject to change depending on the instructor.

As per the Examination Policy:

  • All exams, whether FT or PT, must be sat at the time stated in the exam schedule.
  • Exams may not be re-arranged to accommodate students’ travel plans, irrespective of the reason for travelling.
  • Extensions may only be granted by the MBA & MM Programs Office for medical reasons.
  • Students must notify the MBA & MM Programs Office (askmba@sauder.ubc.ca) prior to the start of the exam if they are too ill to write.  A doctor’s note must be provided prior to the scheduling of a new exam date.

Any student with Examination Hardship defined as THREE or more exams within a 24-hour period should report this to the Graduate Programs Office  (cherry.wang@sauder.ubc.caby no later than Thursday, November 14, 2013.

Failure to notify the MBA& MM Programs Office of 3 exams within 24 hours by the deadline given may result in students not being able to have an alternate exam sitting.

US Consulate Presentation:  Get a US Visa

Do you want to visit the United States?  How can you apply for a US visa? If you are citizens of some countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program, how can you apply for ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization)?

Join International House  for an Information Session with officers from the US Consulate General in Vancouver. The session will cover a range of visa topics, including tourist, student, exchange, and work visas. You will learn how to apply for a US visa and you will learn some ways to ensure success for your application.

A friendly reminder that the BC Packers case discussion and Industry Panelists are scheduled on Friday, Nov at HA 098.

Attendance on Friday is mandatory for the whole day. Dress code is business causal since there will be industry panelists in the afternoon.Please no jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts but simple blouses/shirts, khakis, pants/knee length skirts are acceptable.

Presentation Skills Workshop, BASC 550, BAFI 500 and BA 541

A reminder that your Presentation Skills workshop with Cameron Morrell is on Tuesday, November 12th from 8:00-10am.

Attendance is MANDATORY for all students.

Please be advised that the workshop will be located at the Friedman Building (near Mahony’s)  in room 153. Please allot 10-15 minutes traveling time, especially this will be the first time your class has been to the building Directions click here.

Due to this workshop, your BASC 550 and BAFI 500 classes have been moved to a later time slot. Please check your Google calendar for the correct dates and times.

Lastly, BA 541 001 & 002 students, your make-up class will be held in SWING 122 from 4-6pm.

Get money to do a project in community

If you’ve got an idea for a small project in a community setting, you can apply for a grant (up to $2000) and get support from the UBC Community Learning Initiative to make it happen. It’s a safe and easy way to practice applying for grants, and you’ll get to see a project through from start to finish with real resources behind you. More info on grants and application details.

Strategy Consulting Initiative (SCI) – Nov 6

The Strategy Consulting Initiative (SCI) is a unique opportunity for Undergrad and MBA students to provide high-level strategy consulting services to businesses operating in the Vancouver area. Teams consisting of five members will be assigned to a company to analyze their business issues and make recommendations. Students will be mentored and trained by an industry professional from a top tier consulting firm as they prepare a final proposal for the business. Final deliverables include a client report (the deck) and a final presentation to the client. This program will benefit students who are interested in the consulting industry and are looking to gain valuable real-world experience. Multiple students have gone on to participate in the Strategy Consulting Mentorship Program (SCMP) and have received job offers at top strategy consulting firms.

For interested students there will be information sessions held on November 6th at 5:30 PM and November 12th at 12:30 PM, both in HA 492.

Reminder: BC Packers Case Memo – Due on Nov 4 at 8am

This is a friendly reminder that your 4th case memo for the BC Packers case is due at 8:00am on Monday, November 4 via Connect > myIPD > BA 504 (3.0) Integration & Professional Development: Foundation > Integrated Case #4 – BC Packers Memo Dropbox.

A few things to keep in mind when submitting your case memo that would help expedite the grading process:

  • You may make multiple submissions but only your last submission before the deadline will be graded
  • Your case memo and appendix needs to be merged into one single document (only either in Word or PDF)
  • You must provide both your name and student number on your case memo. Please refer to the Case Memo and Citing Instructions on Connect within the Integrated Cases folder.

If you are experiencing problems with your submission, please submit your case memo to askmba@sauder.ubc.ca before 8:00am on November 4th.
