Are you interested in the opportunity to design and deliver initiatives to enhance Quality Improvement and Patient Safety in healthcare? Would like to gain hands-on experience in improving patient outcomes, system performance, and the prevention of medical errors and complications?

Once summer starts, there won’t be any official meetings with the whole class until September.  And for those students going on exchange, we won’t be seeing you until graduation day in 2015.

Research Assistant for the UBC Community-Based Research (CBR) Working Group

The UBC Community-Based Research Working Group is seeking a research assistant (RA) to assist with organizing facilitated discussions, conduct background research on community-based research (CBR) issues and support the organization of CBR interest groups on campus. The RA will also work on developing a UBC CBR website.

The student should be a graduate student in the social sciences, familiar with community-based research as a methodology. A student who is organized and highly motivated is desirable. Strong communication and networking skills are also desirable.

The UBC CBR Working Group seeks to investigate ways to develop and foster meaningful community-university engagement and collaborations by supporting, enabling and enhancing CBR at UBC. The student will be working in a multidisciplinary environment that will provide an opportunity to learn valuable skills in community engagement techniques and policy development. The project team involves academics from across campus with linkages with community groups from both non-government and government sectors. The project offers the student a valuable opportunity to see academic/community partnerships in play and to appreciate the complexity and excitement of multidisciplinary research.

Alumni Weekend (May 24) Volunteers Needed

UBC campus experts needed – yes, that’s you!

Want to meet fun new people? Interested in adding something unique to your resume? You’re in luck! alumni UBC is preparing for another exciting Alumni Weekend and we’re looking for 150 volunteers to help us make it happen!

Alumni Weekend takes place on Saturday May 24, 2014 and is an annual event that invites UBC alumni to Point Grey Campus for a day of exciting workshops and classes (without quizzes!), tours of the attractions on campus and a chance to reunite with old friends.

Volunteers will assist at the various venues, tours, educational sessions and registration. They will also help with event preparation, assist with wayfinding and transportation and overall, ensure that everyone feels welcome. Volunteer shifts are only 5 hours long so you can enjoy the day!
