The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Educational Leadership

My current SoTL/SoEL research interests and experiences are rooted in initiatives that involve institutional improvement through curriculum and program renewal and development, formative practices in teaching and mentorship (from tutors to TAs to faculty), and integrative learner-centered approaches to additional language teaching and learning.  In relation to this last research area, I have come to view L2 teaching and learning as a skills-oriented participatory culture in which students are most successful when they rely on existing competencies and experiences and personal motivation as a means to establish connections with and to make and maintain knowledge in the target language and culture.  This point of view informs the SoTL/SoEL projects described in this section of my ePortfolio.
