Research Sharing: Community-based Appreciative Learning

Community-based Appreciative Learning: The Early Stages of Research
Rachel Goossen, M.A. Student, EDST
Let’s learn together. This workshop is great for folks who are interested in any of the following: 1) community-based research; 2) schools as ‘communities of support’; 3) ethical ‘engaged research’ 4) participatory research through an appreciative/generative lens; or 5) working through the design of a Master’s thesis. Rachel Goossen, a 2nd year M.A. student in EDST, will present her own research proposal (in working form!), along with an overview of appreciative inquiry and how it can be used to conduct a community-based study. Finally, questions and open wonderings around community-based research will be shared, with collaborative time to create some answers. Come to meet your colleagues, and participate in an interactive and honest research conversation!
