Big congratulations to Anthony Dodds, Student Recruiter-Advisor based out of the Okanagan campus, for winning a Staff Award of Excellence in Leadership!
Anthony was recognized for consistently setting the standard of quality for advising to counsellors and students, as well as knowledgeably representing the policies and practices of the university while advocating for the success of the student. He was also acknowledged for his service as a beloved coach and mentor to student staff, and the personal connections he’s made while working at UBCO.
Anthony is a highly valued member of the Student Recruitment & Advising team, and his manager and the Associate Director of the unit, Leanne Isaak, has this to say:
Over the years I have staff members who demonstrate brief moments of heightened dedication to department objectives or focus on the development of a particular skill needed to be successful in the role. Anthony is the exception in terms of both the level of excellence he continues to achieve and the consistent passion for the unit goals over an extended period of time.
Anthony approaches the role of a recruiter advisor as a craft to be refined over time and is constantly encouraging and mentoring teammates and student staff on both campuses to take a similar approach to their work. He is competitive in the unit’s success and achievement of objectives, but collaborative and encouraging in the development of the team’s abilities. He embraces UBC’s commitment to access for historically underserved or excluded populations and actively looks for ways to adjust the unit’s messaging to reflect this commitment. The impact of Anthony’s approach to his work is clearly demonstrated in the letters of support from his colleagues.
Over the past decade he has inspired and raised the standard of everyone he comes in contact with.
Congratulations Anthony!!!
