Gingerbread house decorating competition
Your challenge is to work as a team to build a unique and impressive gingerbread house that represents your unit. Then bring your gingerbread house to the Holiday Celebration where it will be judged by a panel of esteemed experts in the field of holiday baking. The winning unit will receive a coveted prize.
One gingerbread house kit will be distributed to each unit on Monday, December 1st.
Ugly sweater competition
Channel your inner grandpa! Dig out that terrible sweater your great-aunt bought you or head to a thrift store and buy yourself a winner. Your peers will decide which sweater is worthy of winning a special prize.
Family photos
Nothing says the holidays more than awkward family photos. Gather with your colleagues and friends and get your picture taken at the ES portrait studio.
Sharing our good fortune
In the spirit of the holidays, we will be supporting two worthy causes.
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank
Beginning on December 2, we will be collecting food and household items at three locations in Brock Hall:
- BH 40 next to reception (basement)
- BH 1206 (main floor)
- BH 2016 in the kitchen area (2nd floor)

Blanket BC
Didn’t win the United Way 50/50? Try again! Proceeds will be donated to Blanket BC, which is a local charity started nearly a decade ago by a young family in Mission. Since collecting 67 blankets on their first blanket drive, Blanket BC has grown into an incorporated charity and has distributed over 100,000 blankets to date! Blanket BC is also raising awareness to homelessness and the working poor across our communities.
Blanket BC has assisted more than 50 charitable organizations, shelters and churches that open their space to the homeless and families in need of help.

We will begin selling 50/50 tickets next week. The draw will take place at the Holiday Celebration.
