We’re fortunate to have some amazing opportunities right on Brock Hall’s doorstep offered Monday to Friday through the UBC School of Music. Here’s some creative ideas for those days when you feel like breaking out of the usual lunchtime routine!

Mondays
Where: Barnett Hall
When: Most Mondays, 12pm
Cost: Free

The beautiful Roy Barnett Concert Hall offers free hour long lunchtime concerts (most) Mondays at 12 and the genre of music changes weekly. Coming up on Monday March 13^th is the UBC Composers’ Concert, followed by the UBC Percussion Ensemble on March 27^th. A great way to brighten up your Monday! See the weekly series schedule here.

Tuesdays
Where: Barnett Hall
When: Most Tuesdays, 12pm
Cost: Free

On Tuesday lunchtimes the Roy Barnett Concert Hall holds their Divisional Concerts series, showcasing our talented UBC music students. Go along on March 21^st to take in an hour of string music, or wind brass and percussion on March 28^th. See the weekly series schedule here.

Wednesdays
Where: Barnett Hall
When: Every Wednesday, 12pm
Cost: $5 on the door

Most Wednesdays during the school year, UBC Music hosts their Wednesday Noon Hours concert series, featuring everything from jazz and blues to classical concertos. ‘Fire, Water, Earth, and Air’ is the theme of the next concert on Wednesday March 15^th, featuring vocals and harpsicord by our UBC music students. Thursdays
Where: The Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre
When: Every Thursday, 12pm
Cost: Free

The UBC Welcome Centre recently launched a new series ‘Tunes at Noon’, presenting live performances by UBC Music students and alumni every Thursday. The next performance features Micki-Lee’s Group showcasing their fiddle music in honour of St Patrick’s Day! Bring along your lunch and a friend for a fun lunchtime away from your desk. Fridays
Where: Chan Centre for the Performing Arts
When: Occasional Fridays, 12pm
Cost: Free

If you haven’t checked out the Chan Centre yet, we highly recommend it – renowned for its beautiful interior and great acoustics. What better time to visit than at one of its free lunchtime concerts; the next one taking place on Friday March 31^st at 12pm, featuring the ‘UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble: (Un)plugged’.
