A few months ago the Enrolment Services teams left behind an under renovation Brock Hall and adopted a somewhat timeworn West Mall Annex as our new workplace. At first it didn’t take long for colleagues to miss the old office, with talk of giant spiders in the bathroom, that long walk to the bus loop and the building’s lingering smell that no one has yet to work out! Over time though, we’ve found things to love about the temporary move, here’s a few highlights!
Hangman!
The building’s lunchroom has been a great social area to sit and have lunch together and most importantly has led to the beginning of team hangman!
Local Spots
While we’ve only moved a few blocks away, a change of scenery gave some of us incentive to check out a few nearby spots, including the First Nations Longhouse, the Asian Centre and lunchtime walks down to Wreck Beach and the Museum of Anthropology. With the Museum being free for those with a staff card it’s definitely worth a lunchtime visit. And the NEST now being what feels like a long trek away, we’ve found some new lunch spots including a great soup and salad from The Harvest and coffee from Italian spot Mercante.
Packing will soon be starting again soon for the big move back, and we’re all looking forward to seeing our new and improved second floor of Brock Hall!
