Who: Sahir Moosvi
Unit: Student Records & Systems Management (Scheduling Services)
Position: Business Data Analyst
Since: September 2018

Professional:
Sahir graduated from UBC with a degree in Honours Biochemistry where he completed his senior thesis in neural regeneration after spinal cord injury. While pursuing his thesis and subsequent research, Sahir realized how his side interest in computer science enhanced his work by allowing him to analyze more, faster, and with greater precision. This prompted him to obtain his Masters in Data Science (MDS) from UBC. Sahir’s capstone project was at the Coast Mountain Bus Company where he worked in a team of 4 to create a predictive model for future scheduling needs, as well as dashboards for assessing congestion and routes of concern. From there Sahir joined a local high growth tech company called Visier where he served as a data management engineer. Which brought Sahir back again to UBC as a business data analyst for UBC Vancouver’s Scheduling Services where he is excited to explore new challenges!

Personal:
Sahir’s interest are a veritable kaleidoscope that include sci-fi/fantasy, history/politics, science, and philosophy. Sahir spends a fair bit of his time mentoring high school and university students as they organize Connect Model United Nations – a 3 day, hotel conference for high school students to build their public speaking skills, knowledge of global history, and analytic skills. When not running around various side projects like camp-counselling and visiting the Smithsonian, Sahir love relaxing playing modern board games and reading.
