Gretchen Rubin’s Four Tendencies Quiz
Time required: 2 – 3 minutes
New York Times bestselling author, Gretchen Rubin, proposed that most of the population can be divided into four main groups:
- Upholders, who are accountable to both their own expectations and those from others
- Questioners, who question every expectation and only meet their own if it makes sense to them
- Obligers, who respond to others’ expectations of them, but grapple with meeting self-expectations
- Rebels, who resist both external and inner expectations
According to Gretchen, your Tendency Type both shapes and explains your behaviour. By understanding your Tendency Type and learning about others’, you may be able to reduce stress, deliver on promises better, and collaborate more effectively.

What is your love language?
- Words of affirmation
- Gifts
- Acts of Service
- Quality TIme
- Physical Touch
BONUS: Japanese Cube Test
Time required: 2 – 3 min
This isn’t technically a personality test, but possibly one of the most entertaining quizzes on self-discovery. Instead of selecting how much you agree or disagree with statements, you respond to a set of visual prompts and imagine scenes in your head. By constructing imagery in your mind’s eye, you reach into your subconscious and unveil things about yourself that you may never have been aware of.
The quiz is best done if friends or family provide the prompts and record your answers, but you can also take the quiz through a Buzzfeed self-guided video.
Taking these quizzes is a lot of fun, but it’s even more fun when you share results with your coworkers, friends, or family. Start your Zoom calls or bombard your Slack channel with “What’s your love language?”, or “Hold on, are you an obliger too?” and wait for hilarity to ensue.
