1A: Introduce Yourself!
This is your first participation activity for ETEC522, which you should complete once you’ve reviewed all of the preceding section materials. Future activities can be similarly identified and will be similarly embedded at appropriate points in the course. ETEC522 activities account for no specific marks in the course, but will be considered as part of your overall participation (Assignment #4 – see section 1.5 – Course Requirements for details).
Purpose
To begin your participation and establish your presence in ETEC522.
Instructions
Please make two simple, yet highly social contributions to the ETEC522 weblog:
- Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the ETEC522 WordPress environment, please compose and publish a first blog post that introduces you informally to your cohort and the instructors. Your post can include any aspects of your personal, professional, educational, technological, entrepreneurial, MET, etc, background that you believe might be of interest to our group. You might also want to say something about why you’re taking ETEC522, and what you hope to learn or achieve with it. Provide at least one photo or image to illustrate your introduction. Select the category “Introductions” before you post.
NB – Think About Identity Management: ETEC522 is conducted within an open public blog environment, which means that anybody in the world will be able to read what you post here or elsewhere in the course. Therefore do not publish your email address, phone number, or other personal information (including photos) that you don’t wish to be on general view. For example, if you are concerned for any reason about your full name being exposed, you may use just a first name, or some appropriate pseudonym in this introduction and through the rest of the course. Your identity risk here is considerably less than on Facebook or other Internet sites, but we wish you to be aware and prudent. Please contact one of your instructors if you have any specific questions or concerns.
- Respond in an appropriately welcoming manner to a few of the introductory postings from your ETEC522 colleagues. This may be to greet existing acquaintances or to make some connection with elements of a new acquaintance’s posting that resonate with you.
Deadline
Unless otherwise impossible, this activity should be complete by the end of week 1.
