Handsworth’s Dance Department presents its first virtual dance showcase “Hands Down, We Did It!” on Thursday, June18, 2020. With theatres closed, and gatherings of more than 50 people banned due to COVID-19 we were sadly unable to present our bi-annual performance of “Hands Up” in June.  Instead, a virtual dance showcase was created during term 3 for students to continue to do what they love most. The showcase consists of 14 student choreographies, created and filmed separately before being combined into a series of video vignettes.  Dances from each class, along with a duet performed by this year’s graduates will be followed by a slideshow to honour student in their final year at Handsworth. In closing, the much-awaited finale “Brighter Days” will be featured as the highlight of the evening, another amazing video creation by Megan Hingson & Felix Soong, showcasing our dance community and performing arts family at Handsworth. “Hands Down, We Did It!” is a great celebration of the dancers’ resilience and perseverance to continue to create art during the pandemic.
