Getting Started with TEI
This workshop will introduce you to text encoding in the context of digital archives and digital humanities. After this workshop you will be able to:
- Explain the importance of text encoding for digital humanities
- Illustrate applications of TEI
- Explain what the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) is
- Describe the main components of the TEI-XML scheme
- Apply the basic elements of TEI-XML to encode a literary text using the oXygen XML Editor
Find online resources to continue learning about TEI and text encoding for digital humanities

Citation Management
Need some help when it comes to managing your citations, and compiling your bibliography? Join our weekly Citation Management workshops for help with Mendeley, RefWorks and Zotero! Get tips on organizing your research, formatting bibliographies, and creating in-text citations.

NVivo – Qualitative Analysis
Improve your research results and gain new insights into your data by learning to use NVivo, a powerful qualitative data analysis software. Workshops are offered separately for PC and Mac users, and there are two levels of workshops: introductory (part 1), and intermediate (part 2).
Workshops are held weekly at 1pm-3pm, in Koerner Library, room 217.

SPSS – Statistical Analysis
Get assistance with analyzing your quantitative data – attend one of our weekly SPSS workshops where our student experts will get you acquainted with using SPSS for your statistical analysis. Workshops are offered at two levels: introductory (part 1), and intermediate (part 2).

Multi-Disciplinary Grad Student Writing Community
Writing your thesis can be hard, but writing regularly and being part of a writing community can help – you can do both at our weekly meetings! Each session is facilitated by a Peer Writing Consultant from the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication.. Weekly sessions run Tuesdays at 1pm-3pm in Koerner Library, room 153.

R Study Group
Join the UBC R Study Group and learn how to code and collaborate with others on open science projects. All graduate students, scientists and researchers are welcome!
This semester, the R Study Group will be co-working on a group project, and honing skills in Shiny, Leaflet, API, and time series analysis. Their other sessions this term included Advanced R, and various Utility Belt sessions.

Pixelating: A Digital Humanities Mixer
Our Pixelating DH Mixer is back! The Mixer is an opportunity for DH scholars across campus to meet colleagues, talk tools, brainstorm ideas and network with others who use digital tools to explore and visualize their research.
