Final Exam invigilators needed – December 6

Two invigilators are required for the FNH 350 001 final exam on Wednesday, December 6 for 2.5 hours, 3:30PM to 6:00PM.

These invigilator positions will be paid at the appropriate TA rate depending on the student’s classification.  Please do not apply for these positions if the additional hours will put you over the 192 hours/term maximum.

Call for Nominations – LFS Service Awards

Nominations are now open for the Faculty of Land and Food Systems outstanding service awards, including the Shynkaryk Service Award (staff), Richards Service Award (faculty) and Graduate Student Service Award. These awards will be presented at our Faculty Holiday Party on Thursday, December 7.

LFS Shynkaryk and Richards Awards

Nominees should be LFS staff or faculty members who meet the following criteria: consistently provides excellent service to students, faculty and staff, accomplished tasks with good humour and grace, works extremely well with others, and always goes one step further on every project. Nominations should include the name of the nominator, name of nominee and 3 or more reasons for the nomination (with examples).

LFS Graduate Student Service Award 

Nominees should be graduate students who meet the following criteria: provide services and / or leadership to fellow graduate students and the LFS community at large, and serve as exemplars to fellow grad students, faculty and staff or the faculty in general. Nominations should include the name of the nominator, name of nominee and 3 or more reasons for the nomination (with examples).

Hugh C. Morris Experiential Fellowship

 The first opportunity is only available to graduate students, but the Focus! Climate Change Student Video Contest may be of interest to your undergrads and postdocs as well.

The Hugh C. Morris Experiential Fellowship is designed to commemorate the life work and contributions to the fields of Geosciences, Climate Change, and Mathematics in Canada by Dr. Hugh C. Morris. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Chair of the Canadian Global Change Program and Recipient of the J. Willis Ambrose Gold Medal for leadership by the Geological Association of Canada, to name just a few of his many achievements. This new Fellowship, valued at $40,000, is open to any graduate student studying in Canada who is working in a field related to earth, geosciences, environment, energy, water, climate change, social impact or design sciences related to these areas, and is designed to provide a unique experiential travel program designed by the student.

The fellowship provides tuition, fees and a stipend for two years, with possible extension for a third year. Recipients are also matched with a Google Research Mentor.
