UBC Farm Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture – Accepting Applications for 2021 program 

The UBC Farm Practicum can be taken as either a six-month (April – October), or as a four-month (April – August), experiential-learning program. 6-9 academic credits are available for interested students; however, the program may also be taken as a non-credit course.

For those interested in applying, a Practicum Open House will occur online on Saturday, September 19, 12 pm – 1 pm; and another will occur on Wednesday, October 7, 5:30 – 6:30 pm. We will provide a forum to ask questions and provide a virtual tour of the site from the perspective of the program. Registration is required at the following link: http://lfs-ubcfarm-epayment.sites.olt.ubc.ca/2020/08/11/open-house-registration/.

Call for Applications: Sustainability Scholars Program (paid internships)

The UBC Sustainability Initiative (USI) is again offering UBC graduate students the opportunity to work on funded sustainability internship projects. Projects begin October 19, 2020. Current UBC graduate students from all academic disciplines are eligible to apply.

Further information on the available internship projects can be found on the Sustainability Scholars Program web page. Applications close at midnight Sunday September 20, 2020.

The UBC Sustainability Initiative (USI) is pleased to offer UBC graduate students the opportunity to work in funded sustainability internship projects.

We are currently accepting applications for over 40 internships that will commence October 19. Current UBC graduate students from all academic disciplines are eligible to apply.

Successful candidates will work under the mentorship of a partner organization, and are immersed in real world learning where they can apply their research skills and contribute to advancing organizational sustainability goals. Each Scholar receives $5500 to complete 250 hours of work.

Virtual Orientation for New LFS TAs (Fri, Aug 28)

Dear LFS Graduate Students,

All new and returning LFS Teaching Assistants are invited to attend the upcoming Virtual LFS TA Orientation scheduled for 10 AM – 12 PM (PDT) on Friday, August 28th.

This session will be an opportunity for new TAs to meet the Dean and Associate Dean (Academic), the Learning Centre, CUPE 2278 representatives, and their fellow TAs. Topics to be covered include TA roles and responsibilities, confidentiality and best practices, online teaching tools used at UBC, and the CUPE 2278 collective agreement.
