Job Title

WL S21 Community Networking Consultation and Support, Job ID 885543

Job Description

This is a short term contract to support a community education project undertaken by the Artist in Residence (AIR) at UBC Botanical Garden. The project aims to develop and distribute unique educational materials and resources to enable the uptake of zero-waste propagation methods among gardeners on UBC’s Vancouver campus.

Under supervision by the project lead/AIR, the student will help to develop preliminary networking resources to enable campus gardeners to connect with one another and exchange plant materials. This will involve a variety of activities across the full length of the project: from qualitative data analysis to platform research, provision of recommendations and evaluation support.

Specific Duties:

  •    Perform qualitative content analysis on two sets of survey results (beginning and end of the project’s educational activities)
  • Summarise findings in written form for use in reports
  • Research existing group networking platforms and, based on analysis of survey data, prepare a report highlighting a) those platforms most appropriate to the goals of the project and needs of participants in the short term; b) limitations of existing platforms in relation to the same, and the functions and characteristics that a tool tailored to the communities in question would ideally fulfil
  • Track and perform rudimentary analysis of Instagram posts and map by location
  • Assist with preparation of final project report
