Free stats advice through the Dept of Statistics

Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to receive free stats advice!  Starting Sept 6th and under the supervision of a stats professor, stats grad students taking the STAT 551 practicum consulting course will consult with you on your project and provide you with a report of recommendations.

Anyone is eligible so apply now by submitting a 1-page project description (similar in format to https://www.stat.ubc.ca/sites/default/files/sample551project.pdf) to asda@stat.ubc.ca.  Submissions will be accepted until the end of October but the sooner you submit the sooner your project will be selected.

Additionally you can get free data analysis from students taking STAT 450 in the 2023 Winter Term 2.  See https://www.stat.ubc.ca/free-statistical-consultation-202223 for the application details and get your data ready!

Chancellor Reappointment Committee

Call for volunteers from our LFS graduate and faculty member community – Chancellor Reappointment Committee

As you may know, Chancellor Steven Point is approaching the end of his first three-year term and is being considered for reappointment – alumni UBC is responsible for executing the reappointment process including managing the establishment of the Chancellor Reappointment committee.

The following positions are still available on the Committee.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 9th

  • (2) faculty members from UBC Vancouver
  • (1) graduate student from either UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan
