Chief Electoral Officer

  • Are you interested in enhancing student democracy on campus?
  • Do you want to make sure graduate students have their voice heard?

Well the GSS is looking for a Chief Electoral Officer who will help manage our elections in 2019.

This role will allow you to play a crucial role in the society’s annual elections, encouraging individuals to nominate themselves for election and inspiring graduate students to vote for the next group of student leaders.

This session will help you navigate conversations with peers in need of support. You will learn how to start the conversation, actively listen, and connect to support and resources.

Plus you can stay afterwards for the Connection Cafe, where you can meet and network with other grad students.

Would you like to mentor the next generation of grad students?

This program matches an undergraduate student (2nd year or above) with a graduate student mentor in a similar field of study to provide guidance and insight into career, school, and life. Mentor and mentee pairs will have opportunities to meet as well as participate in group workshops and social events.

Skills of Communication

Tuesday, 11 December 2018 – 9:00am to 5:00pm

Skills of Communication  is a full-day session featuring the tools and tips of better verbal communication. It will test your assumptions and mental models and for many it may be the first time you learn about the Ladder of Inference, the Johari Window and more.  The goal is to make you more aware of the tools available to help you become a better communicator in both your work and personal lives.
