Lactanet is looking for a Knowledge Transfer Advisor with an expertise in genetics for a permanent full-time position. As part of the Marketing and Communication Department, the incumbent develops and implements knowledge transfer and expertise marketing strategies for the products and services offered by Lactanet. He/she works with the content experts to carry out various knowledge transfer projects related to their field of expertise. He/she initiates and takes charge of the planning, coordination, and follow-up of knowledge transfer projects with the respective teams.

Sustainable Agriculture Education Association/INFAS – Hiring an Outreach Coordinator!

SAEA Outreach Coordinator – Contractor Position

The Sustainable Agriculture Education Association (SAEA) is seeking an Outreach Coordinator to help us achieve our communications and outreach goals as a national organization dedicated to achieving sustainable and just food systems through teaching and learning. The Outreach Coordinator’s responsibilities will include membership communications, website updates, conference outreach, participating in SAEA governance, and promoting the principles of Equity affirmed by our members.

The Outreach Coordinator position is a 12 month contract position, with a 2-month trial period. It is not an employee position. The position pays equivalent to an hourly rate of $30 (approximately $600/month) and requires between 5-10 hours/week of work conducted remotely.

2022 PRSSS Spring Workshop and AGM

The Pacific Regional Society of Soil Science will be hosting our annual Spring Workshop and AGM on March 5th from 9 AM – 3 PM PST, via Zoom. Our theme this year is Soil Security: Past, Present, Future. We will also be hosting a 3-minute thesis competition for students.

Theme – Soil Security: Past, Present, Future

Date – March 5th, 9AM-3PM PST

Location – Virtual (Zoom)

Registration for the 2022 PRSSS AGM and Spring Workshop is now open! The event will take place on March 5th from 9 AM – 3 PM PST and will be held via Zoom.

Recent current events, such as increased forest fire severity and regional flooding, have influenced many discussions about the state of our soil security. The topic for our 2022 AGM is “Soil Security: Past, Present, Future.” Throughout the day, we will be diving into how past decisions have shaped current events, how current events are shaping future planning, and the different intersections of soil security.

Registration cost is $15 CAD for students and $50 CAD for non-students/ professionals. The price includes registration and a PRSSS annual membership for 2022/2023. The 2022/2023 membership registration cycle lasts from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.

3-Minute Thesis Competition

We are happy to announce a 3-minute thesis presentation in lieu of a student poster presentation during the PRSSS AGM + Spring workshop. Students are encouraged to share their research in a 3-min rapid presentation format. Presentations should be recorded and submitted prior to the AGM event. During the event, presenters will participate in a Q&A period.

  • Letter of intent to submit pre-recorded submission video: Due @ registration
  • 3-minute thesis presentation recording: Due March 2nd
  • Recording format: MP4 is preferable, but we can accommodate whatever format is available to you

Sustainability of Canadian Agriculture conference – student video competition

Current graduate students (MSc or PhD candidates) in agriculture are invited to take part in a 3-minute video competition taking place in conjunction with the Sustainability of Canadian Agriculture Conference, March 16-18, 2022.

Pitch your research project in a pre-recorded video, telling us about your research and how it might benefit farmers and the sustainability of Canadian agriculture in the context of the conference theme Farming for sustainable food systems in three minutes!

Entries will be showcased on the conference website and promoted during the conference. Select entries will be chosen for special video showing/Q & A session each day of the conference. Those students whose video will be featured during the conference are required to take part in a live Q & A session following the video showings.

2022 SCAC Graduate Student Research Video Competition

Cash prizes will be awarded to the highest rated video entries, including a People’s Choice award!

 Important deadlines:

January 31               Video contest opens! Entry forms available on the conference website

February 11             Deadline to submit entry forms indicating your intention to submit a 3-minute video.
Contest details and video criteria distributed upon submission of entry form.

March 7                    Deadline for submitting video entries for the conference and contest.

March 9                    Select entrants notified of their showing/live Q & A date. To take part in the contest, students are required to take part in the Q & A period during their assigned session
on either March 1, 2, or 3rd (1:00-2:00).
